Plugins

The Plugins view shows every VST, AU, and VST3 plugin across your entire project library: what's used, what's installed, and what's missing.

Plugin overview

The main Plugins view lists all plugins referenced in your projects, with their name, format (VST2, VST3, AU), how many projects use them, and whether they're installed on your system.

The full Plugins view is a Pro feature. Free users can see plugin lists in individual project detail views.

Installed plugins

Audyn can scan your system's plugin folders to detect what's installed. This lets it cross-reference against your projects and flag anything that's missing.

Plugin folders are configured in Settings > Plugins. Default paths for your operating system are pre-filled (e.g., /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/ on macOS, C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\ on Windows).

Plugin scan

When Audyn scans your plugin folders, it detects three formats:

VST2

Legacy plugin format, detected by file extension (.dll on Windows, .vst on macOS).

VST3

Modern plugin format. Audyn reads each VST3 plugin to extract detailed information: vendor, version, category, and unique identifier.

Audio Units

macOS only. Detected from the system plugin registry.

For VST3 plugins, Audyn extracts additional details like vendor name, version number, and category classification.

Missing plugins

Audyn compares the plugins in your projects against what's installed on your system. Plugins that are referenced in a project but not found on your system are flagged as missing.

Example

You revisit an old project that uses Sylenth1 and Massive X. Audyn shows that Sylenth1 is installed, but Massive X is not.

Usage statistics

See which plugins are used most across your library, which projects use a specific plugin, and how your plugins break down by format. This helps you understand your dependencies and decide which plugins to keep, update, or replace.
